ABOUT THE ARTIST

15 years ago, i was you

I was on a trip to Kaua’i, falling in love with paradise.

Rosemary Pierro

I was thinking…

How can I stay? What can I do? How can I contribute?

I knew I had to hold on to this feeling, so I bought a carved turtle shell necklace from a local gallery and vowed to wear it until my path led me back to the islands.

In 2003, I moved to Kaua’i and learned glass blowing. I’ve lived here happily ever since!

Today, I have the honor of sculpting handmade glass artworks inspired by the spirit of the island.

I hope that each of my pieces helps you stay connected to this magical place and it’s people.

just for fun…

Here are 6 things you might learn about me when we become friends.

Rosemary Pierro

My favorite color is purple

It used to be gray, but my daughter said that gray really isn’t a color and now I’m truly converted to purple.

“Born to Run” is my anthem

How this is not everyone’s favorite song is beyond my comprehension. If you ask me, it’s the best song ever written.

Glass guitar picks

Sand really bugs me

But I’ve learned to relax when the grainy stuff is clinging to my hands, face, and long hair. For the love of the beach.

The island of Kaua'i

Kaua’i has limitless warmth

In 15 years living here, I’ve never felt alone. This island has a spirit of warmth and aloha that wraps its’ arms around you through its people and the natural resources found here.

Coffee and Rosemary's studio

Coffee is life

I feel like superman with a fresh cup. Step into the telephone booth as Rosemary and emerge caffeinated as Wonder Rosemary! (Can you spot the coffee in this photo?)

I’m a proud mama

My daughter recently discovered The Simpsons and we’ve watched a half dozen episodes so far. I’m a happy and proud mama that she loves it as much as I do.

ABOUT THE ARTWORKS

pendants

Hold on to your connection to Hawaii with a brilliant glass pendant.

Glass pendants

Made with hand-blown glass (and sometimes even beach sand!)

I gather a small amount of sand from the beach outside my glass studio in Kaua’i, Hawaii.

Back in the studio, I fire up the torch to melt down enough clear and colored glass to fully encase the beach sand.

Necklaces are made by layering beach sand between clear and colored glass. This sand then becomes part of a unique work of wearable art!

Guitar Picks

With a built in grip and smooth tapered end, guitar players will appreciate the bright, amplified tone of this special pick.

Glass guitar picks

This durable, borosilicate glass guitar pick has gained popularity through the national catalog Uncommon Goods and print magazine reviews. (Hello, NY times travel section!)

The size of the pick is one inch. The grip is pressed into the glass during the torching process and makes a positive difference in the comfort you get playing this pick!

The resulting sound has been most commonly called "warm and bright.”

Perfect for jamming, practicing, and recording

Reusable glass straws

Beautiful, functional, and long lasting. Here’s to your health and our planet’s!

Glass straws

One glass straw can replace thousands of plastic straws. Plus, they’re BPA-free, durable, reusable, and easy to clean!

I make this straw as durable as possible by taking great care during the design stage, production process, and monitoring of the firing schedule of each kiln cycle.

Each straw is crafted with borosilicate tubing, the strongest glass commercially available. The ends are rolled and polished for smoothness and durability.

Perfect for sipping your favorite smoothies, sparkling water, and spritzers!
